2026 "Crazy About Quilting" Retreat!
April 30 - May 2, Thursday - Saturday
April 30 - May 2, Thursday - Saturday
April 30 - May 2, Thursday - Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm each day, for another great "Sleep in your own Bed" Retreat at the Haralson Civic Center in Blairsville. Registration opened at the February 24 General Meeting, and we will accept the first 50 Guild Members who register and pay in full. We will maintain a waiting list for those that don't make the first 50; in the past, we have been able to accommodate everyone on the waiting list!
You can download and print the information sheet and registration form here. You can complete the registration form and fill out your check before you get in line to register. Note: if you buy the 3 days of lunch, that INCLUDES the Thursday BBQ lunch. But if you only want the BBQ lunch, you can purchase just that.
Lunch Menus:
Thursday: Kim & John Pemberton's Famous Pulled Pork BBQ, Fabulous Baked Beans, and more.
Friday: Homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs with salad, again thanks to Chef Kim.
Saturday: A sandwich and salad platter from Sammie's Subs.
Sorry, we really can't accommodate special diets; if you can't eat these lunches, then we encourage you to pack a lunch and have fun playing the lunchtime games!
When you register, you will get instructions for this year's challenge project, and a list of how you can earn participation tickets to win fabulous prizes!
This year, we will have only FOUR big prizes that you can win with participation tickets (limit one BIG prize per person),
an AccuQuilt GoMe cutter and
a red Luxcol folding wagon, (similar to the one pictured at this link)
New!! A gift card tree, where the winner will win ALL of the gift cards we collect from local merchants and restaurants.
as well as prizes for our Viewer's Choice challenge project, and at the lunchtime games.
We will have outreach projects you can work on to earn prize tickets, or you can bring your own projects and work on them in the company of your fellow quilters.
New!! You can also do some quilting on your home machine for Hugs & Kisses or Heart to Heart! Both groups have an excess of quilt tops that need to be sandwiched and quilted (doing the binding is optional). You can pick up a quilt kit at a general meeting or a H&K or H2H workday, quilt it at home, and bring it to the retreat to earn TEN door prize tickets!
Workshop schedule:
Thursday afternoon (1-4 pm): Wool Applique for Beginners, with Mary Svenson Palmer.
Friday morning (9 am - noon) EQ 8 (Electric Quilt): Why do I want this quilt design software? What can it do for me? with Kathy Traylor

Saturday, all day (9 am - noon and 1-4 pm): Embellishing Quilts with Bead Embroidery, with Billy and Kevin from Birdsong Beads & Designs.
Workshops are $15 for a half day, or $25 for a full day, plus a kit fee as determined by the instructors.
Note: If you'd like to take a workshop, but not attend the whole retreat, you can, if there is space available. Retreat attendees have priority. Fill out a retreat registration form and submit it with a check for the workshop fee. You'll pay the kit fee at the workshop.
